MEMBERSHIP

Membership Grades

Grades of CIOB membership are available to those who have achieved recognised levels of academic and occupational success. Depending on the level achieved, applicants will be eligible for one of the five grades of CIOB membership outlined below.

Fellow (FCIOB)

A Chatered member who has worked at a senior level in the industry for a least five years. Will also have had input into either the industry at large, academia, education or the institute.


Member (MCIOB)

A person who is fully exempt from CIOB academic requirements, has a minimum of three years professional level experience and has passed the Professional Review.


Incorporate (ICIOB)

A person who has:

  • full exemption from CIOB academic requirements

or

  • HND in construction or equivalent; or
  • S/NVQ Level 4 approved by CIOB; or
  • Full Membership of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists; or
  • Other qualifications may be assessed and approved on an individual basis.

Candidates who do not hold the equivalent of Honours degree level qualification will need to gain further awards before progressing to Chartered membership. Associate (ACIOB)

A person who has either

  • minimum of an HNC; or
  • SMTS certificate and diploma; or
  • NVQ Level 3 - approved by CIOB; or
  • Other qualifications may be assessed and approved on an individual basis.

All applicants for ACIOB will be not less than 21 years of age and have at least two years experience at higher technician level.

Did you know that full time students who are engaged in a construction related course are entitled up to 4 years FREE Student Membership, as well as being able to access our online library and other online resources?

Applicants studying part time will be required to pay an annual student membership subscription fee of RM 97.00 for 2012.

Student membership is available to those who are engaged in either of the following:

  • HNC/HND in a construction related course; or
  • Fully accredited degree courses.

Please refer to the list of CIOB Recognised Awards lists to confirm whether your qualifications are CIOB recognised.

If your qualifications are not listed then you will need to apply for the Individual Assessment prior to completing your membership application.
